Do you love nature?
THEN WELCOME!
See What it’s really like to Elope in Nova Scotia: Weather, light, & the Real Experience
Burntcoat Head offers a very unique experience where at low tide, you can walk on the sea floor among some amazing rock formations and cliffs. Located on the Bay of Fundy!

Pros: No hiking needed to get to the seafloor, often not very many people there at sunset, very unique spot for an elopement, epic photos
To note: Need to check the tide schedule, and can be muddy so you gotta be okay with getting a little dirty!
One of the most beautiful peninsulas in the province, White Point Trail makes you feel like you are in Scotland! Rugged, cliffy, and vast.

Pros: Very secluded, 20 minute easy hike to the point, scottish-like landscape, almost no other people, very close to other gorgeous remote locations like Skyline Trail, and Meat Cove!
To note: In rural Northern Cape Breton so you will need to drive there yourself.
Into waterfalls? Nova Scotia has plenty! Baxter’s Harbour is a gorgeous 50 foot waterfall located in the Valley (Halls Harbour, to be exact!)

Pros: Easily Accessible, stunning 50 ft waterfall, surrounded by rugged cliffs and the ocean, secluded so not many people depending on the time of day
To note: It is 1.5 hours from the main city, so you have to organize accommodation in a nearby town
Do you want the most insane landscape as your backdrop for your big day? Cape Split is otherworldly and just jaw-dropping. You can hike to this stunning location as well, but it is a 12km hike in total (there and back). We think a boat tour where you can see the view is better for an elopement day!

Pros: Insane views, get married on a boat in the Bay of Fundy (highest tides in the world!), totally secluded with a private tour with Cape Split Where Its At Tours, very accessible
To note: Tour start locations are in Halls Harbour and Scots Bay, Nova Scotia
Coming from the United States?
Want to do something epic for your elopement on the east coast? Vision Air services offers stunning tours over Nova Scotia and private trips to the iconic Sambro Island.

Pros: Totally private island you will likely have completely to yourself, epic helicopter experience, picnic and champagne included for couples
To note: A little on the pricey side but hey, it’s the day you get married! Celebrate in style!
Really incredible hidden waterfall in the Valley area of Nova Scotia. You can actually walk up behind the falls to get under it and play as much as you like! It’s surrounded by a valley of walled mossy greenery, trees, and a beautiful rugged brook.

Pros: Completely secluded hidden gem of a waterfall less than a 10 min walk into the woods. You can actually get up behind it as well!
To note: Best time of year to see waterfalls in NS or Spring or Fall to ensure water flow.
It’s also a little confusing where to park as there is no dedicated space, but side of the road is totally fine!
Looking for a combination of private beach, gorgeous trails, beautiful cliffs and views? The Trailhead for Gaff Point is located at the end of Hirtles Beach on the south shore – and it does not disappoint.

Pros: Secluded Secret Beach couples often have to themselves, varied views and rugged ocean landscapes, relatively easy hike
To note: Not accessible to those with mobility issues, and the secret beach is a little hard to find so having a guide is useful

Do you want that iconic east coast lighthouse experience? Peggy’s Cove is one of the most beautifully rugged views in Nova Scotia.

Pros: Surrounded by ocean, stunning views, quaint fishing village vibes, only 45 minutes from the city of Halifax, and easily accessible.
To note: It is a hot tourist spot so there will be other people, potentially a lot depending on the season and time of day, also, it could be windy!
We say La Have, but the woodland is abundant here and all over! The forests in Nova Scotia are downright ethereal. We love the mossy ground, gorgeous tree canopies, and all around magic.

Pros: Forests are accessible within 20 mins of downtown Halifax, and all over the province.
To note: Not all of them are easily walkable as there can be thick brush, so make sure you have a guide to let you know the best options
Want something a little more quaint with iconic Nova Scotia village vibes? Lunenburg is the perfect little town with it’s history of the renowned Tall Ship Bluenose II, colourful waterfront, and cute shops!

Pros: Very accessible, colourful buildings and scenery for the true east coast vibes, close to restaurants and good seafood, several cute accommodations nearby
To note: It’s a tourist town so depending the time of year it will be bustling!
One of my personal favorite views and hikes, as it’s quick and dirty with insane visual reward! Close to Halifax, and walking less than 10 mins gets you this view.

Pros: Short Hike, secluded with a stunning view, less than 30 mins from downtown Halifax, usually very few other hikers
To note: Can be a little muddy if it has rained recently
.. AND THERE ARE SO MANY MORE. Nova Scotia is filled with so many beautiful hidden gems for tying the knot. It’s extremely introvert friendly, quiet, and perfect for those couples wanting a stress-free elopement experience.
