The Best Places to Elope in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia are so much more accessible than you think! You do not have to hike for ages to get to these amazing views. In fact, some of them are less than 20 minutes of easy walking!
Located at the northern top of Cape Breton, the Meat Cove Overlook Trail is a stunning choice for a secluded elopement (with a view!). Even in the peak of Summer, crowds are rare. The viewpoint overlooks Meat Cove, a beautiful beach below surrounded by gorgeous cliffs. The hike does have a slight incline (but it is considered easy!), and it is through forest and some brush. You can bring your attire to the top and change there to prevent any snags. #worthit

To Note:
– Located at the Northern Tip
– Some dirt road driving
– 20-25 minute forested Hike
– Drone footage is allowed
One of the most beautiful rugged, coastal, ocean views in Cape Breton. Reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands, White Point Trail doesn’t disappoint. The hike to the peninsula is short, easy, and has an incredible pay off for minimal effort. It’s also a lesser known area, so there are never any crowds.

To Note:
– 20-30 minute easy coastal hike
– Lesser known so very secluded
– Drone footage is allowed
If a beach elopement is your dream, then look no further than Chimney Corner in Cape Breton. Surrounded by rolling hills, vast ocean views, and stunning cliffs, it doesn’t get better. And since Cape Breton is so rural, it’s rarely crowded.

To Note:
– No hiking required
– Drone footage is allowed
– Gorgeous Oceanfront Cottages to stay in nearby: Seasky Cottages
Looking to set the scene with something a little different? The Highland Village in Cape Breton is full of Celtic charm. Explore Gaelic history in Nova Scotia. Capture photos with Highland Cows. Enjoy the view of stone buildings and grassy fields overlooking the ocean.

To Note:
– Paid entry required
– Expect to come across other visitors
– No Hiking Required
– There are Highland Cows!
– Drone footage is allowed
An absolute hidden gem in Cape Breton, the Gypsum Quarry mines may not be on the infamous coast. However, they pack a gorgeous punch. Located near Cheticamp, it’s an easy 20 minute walk to get to the base of the crystal turquoise waters. If you want, you can climb up a little hill to get the view you see below, overlooking the pool.

To Note:
– 20 Minute easy open path hike
– Take a dip in cool waters, or jump off the cliff into it for added adventure!
– Drone footage is allowed
– Can be busy on weekends in the Summer
The most famous view in Cape Breton, the Skyline Trail lives up to its expectations. The hike itself is a little longer at about 45 minutes to get to the end (and 45 return). However, it is flat ground. Starting in June 2026, the province will require hikers to book their time in advance with Parks Canada. This aims to minimize crowding during the tourist season. Is it worth it? Absolutely!

To Note:
– 1.5 hour easy hike in and out
– Hikes must be booked in advance with Parks Canada as it is busy beginning June 2026
– Drone Footage is NOT allowed
One of my favorite Waterfalls in Nova Scotia, Egypt Falls has 60ft of rushing water. The hike itself is short (1.8kms or 1.1 miles) but it is steep. Be prepared to watch your step and take a hot minute to catch your breath on the way back up! This can be a popular spot on weekends especially.

To Note:
– Hike is short (20 mins) but steep on the way back up
– Some guided ropes are used along the end of the trail
– Drone footage is allowed
Pollett’s Cove is my favorite place in Cape Breton. Therefore, one of the best places to elope in Cape Breton. The views are incredible. There are gorgeous wild horses roaming the fields that come to you to be fed and scratched! The hike in is long and hard at about 4-5 hours of steep ups and downs, but don’t fret! Cape Breton Northern Tip Charters does coastal boat tours where you can explore the cove without breaking a sweat.

To Note:
– Tame wild horses roam the cove you can totally feed/pet
– Hike is 4-5 hours and difficult. It is best to take a private boat.
– Drone footage is allowed
