Although I’ve been a few times for other weddings, this was our first time officially as Fox and Fellow to photograph at Oak Island Resort for a wedding – and it was just magic.
As you can imagine, Nova Scotia has a ton of seaside venues for various events, but this is one of our favourites. Nestled just outside of quaint little Chester, Oak Island has a beautiful rocky pier that is just stellar for photos. Not to mention they have multiple indoor and outdoor ceremony locations, all within eat shot of the ocean waves.
And let me tell you, you don’t need a sunny summer day to appreciate the beauty. There is greenery, boats, a little pond, and just gorgeous moody views when the clouds roll in. And throw in a little wind and you’ve got veil and hair swooshes! Captivating isn’t a strong enough word for it.
It was calling for rain, but Megan and Michiel were two very lucky ducks. The drizzle held off and the clouds acted as natures soft box. The light was perfect, the wind was doing god’s work, and the couple just beamed with love.
They celebrated with their closest friends and family and had an intimate outdoor ceremony by the ocean. There were tears, laughter, and joy all through the day. Dirk (Michiel’s older brother) was the captain of crying (and it was freakin’ magical – as a photographer – thank you for the juicy tears Dirk! They make for amazing photos!).
Megan’s Dad even brought along his Harley motorcycle and I can imagine he’ll be showing off the photos of his beautiful daughter with him and his bike to his motorcycle buddies for years to come.
