There are A LOT of large and small outdoor wedding venues in Nova Scotia. Being a photographer for the last 10 years has brought me to most (if not all) of them! After much Googling, I noticed that a comprehensive guide of Nova Scotia outdoor wedding venues didn’t exist. It’s high time that such a guide does! I have also included free/low cost parks as they can be used for weddings, too!
One thing that a lot of couples don’t know is that you can legit get married ANYWHERE outdoors in the province, and you don’t even actually need a traditional “venue”. Anywhere can be your venue, and I’m going to give you some awesome landscapes for gorgeous wedding ceremony spots, too! Because who wants to spend 15k on a venue if you don’t have to, right?
Allow me to take you through some of the most popular AND lesser known outdoor wedding venues across the Mainland of Nova Scotia. I have broken them down by area as you’ll see below. They are separated into categories for Halifax Area, South Shore, Valley Area, and Northern NS.

Halifax Area (HRM) Outdoor Wedding Venues
The Patio at The Prince George Hotel
Located in downtown Halifax, the patio at The Prince George offers outdoor green space with an urban vibe.
Guest Count: Usually for 50 or less guests, but can accommodate up to 275
Cost: Starting at $900 CAD for just rental space (not catering, etc)
To Note: They do have indoor ballrooms available in case of rain
Located in Prospect Bay, this hidden gem is freakin’ amazing. After a 6 minute easy trail, boom, you get this view. And there are NEVER crowds here.
Guest Count: Usually for 20 or less guests
Cost: Free (and no permit required!)
To Note: Sometimes the path is a bit muddy, so wear appropriate footwear!
Point Pleasant Provincial Park
There are 7 different locations you can book for your wedding ceremony at Point Pleasant Park.
Guest Count: Up to 100 (or more with special permission)
Cost: Free but must be reserved in advance
To Note: No receptions allowed at provincial parks (picnics are okay)
McNabs Island Provincial Park
Boats depart from Fisherman’s Cove, Jubilee Dock, and Cable Wharf
Guest Count: from 8-180 depending on boat size
Cost: Free venue but must be reserved in advance, though prices vary for boat charter
To Note: No receptions allowed at provincial parks (picnics are okay)
Long Lake Provincial Park
Gorgeous naturally rugged and more wild trail systems and space.
Guest Count: 20 or less is ideal due to a more wild appearance and less open space
Cost: Free but must be reserved in advance
To Note: No receptions allowed at provincial parks (picnics are okay)
Sir Sandford Flemming Park
Sir Sandford is a Municipal Park and therefore has an associated low cost.
Guest Count: Up to 300
Cost: Less than $100 CAD for permit (required in advance)
To Note: All municipal parks in the HRM are available for wedding ceremonies for only the permit cost
Shubie Park
This park has dedicated green space for events and is very low cost!
Guest Count: Unlimited
Cost: $100 CAD per day if more than 20 guests (otherwise free)
To Note: A $500 CAD refundable deposit is also required
Dewolf Park
This park has dedicated green space for weddings by the ocean.
Guest Count: No set limit
Cost: Less than $100 CAD for permit (required in advance)
To Note: All municipal parks in the HRM are available for wedding ceremonies for only the permit cost
Saraguay House (Royal NS Yacht Squardron)
Located in Halifax’s northwest arm, near The Dingle and right on the ocean.
Guest Count: Up to 115
Cost: Starts at $2000 CAD for venue rental only with a $500-$650 CAD ceremony fee. Catering etc is additional
To Note: There is a dock for boat access and indoor back up in case of rain
Oceanstone Seaside Resort
Beautiful seaside venue with on site sensea nordic spa.
Guest Count: Up to 125
Cost: Off season bookings start at $8500 CAD for venue rental and $8000 CAD for mandatory food/beverage (On season prices start at $10000 CAD for venue and $14000 CAD for food/beverage).
To Note: The above costs includes rentals of all cottages for 2 nights and ceremony space
Lawrence Town Beach Cliffs Provincial Park
Next to Lawrence Town Beach up on the hill is a perfect open space for a small wedding with a stunning view.
Guest Count: No set limit
Cost: Free but must be reserved in advance
To Note: No receptions allowed at provincial parks (picnics are okay)
Mount Uniacke Estate House and Museum
Although there is no access to the museum, the grounds have beautiful green space. There is a view of a lake and forested trail system as well.
Guest Count: Up to 60
Cost: Starts at $300 CAD but depends on size of wedding and you must contact them for a quote.
To Note: Other couples can book this on the same day and ceremonies can be held anywhere on the property
Hubbards Barn
Affordable barn type setting that is pet friendly.
Guest Count: Up to 350
Cost: Starts at $1500 CAD for grounds rental
To Note: This space is DYI, so you do your own decor and hire outside catering
Hatfield Farm
Lovely farm vibes with animals, a horse-drawn carriage, and mechanical bull!
Guest Count: Up to 250
Cost: Standard packages start at $8000 CAD
To Note: Although guest count is 250 for ceremony, only 160 can fit in the dining area.
Airbnbs (Small Wedding and no-fuss venue dream!)
AIRBNBs make amazing small wedding/elopement venues that are private, affordable, and unique.
Guest Count: Best suited for small weddings under 30 guests
Cost: Varies depending on the airbnb ($150 – $900/night CAD)

South Shore Outdoor Wedding Venues
Beautiful rocky and sand beach located in Kingsburg.
Guest Count: No set limit
Cost: Free but permit must be obtained in advance

Little Hirtles Beach
Beautiful rocky and sand beach located in Kingsburg off the beaten path from Hirtles Beach. More Secluded.
Guest Count: No set limit

Quarterdeck Resort
Lovely beach venue located in Port Mouton.
Guest Count: Up to 100
Cost: $3000-$7000 CAD
To Note: Reception and accommodations are on site.
Bull Point Estate
Also located in Port Mouton, Bull Point is a 50 acre luxury private oceanfront wedding venue.
Guest Count: Up to 200
Cost: $6500-$16900 CAD
To Note: Up to 18 guests can stay on the property for overnight accommodations.
White Point Beach Resort
Beachfront wedding venue located in White Point.
Guest Count: Up to 180
Cost: Venue rental is $2500 CAD, $850 CAD for ceremony set up, and $40/person for catering, and minimum $800 CAD for wine
To Note: Cabins and room rentals in the main lodge are available for accommodations for guests.
Oak Island Resort
Oceanfront wedding venue with more than one outdoor ceremony site.
Guest Count: Up to 250
Cost: Varies per reception room, starting at $600 – $2500 CAD with a minimum of $1000 – $6500 CAD for food depending on room
To Note: Features a stunning rocky peninsula out into the ocean for photos. Accommodations also available for guests.
Sidanna Retreat
Private oceanfront wedding venue in Hunts Point featuring accommodation for up to 30 adults.
Guest Count: Up to 50
Cost: You must request a quote directly on their website
To Note: Customizable packages are available and can include decor, catering and other equipment.
The Hill Venue
Located in Bridgewater and with plenty of open green space. The rustic barn vibes are strong with this one!
Guest Count: Up to 120
Cost: You must request a quote directly on their website
To Note: The Hill Venue has a rental duration of 3 days for set up, wedding day, and clean up day.
The Farm at South Cove
Located in Lunenburg. The reception space features an elegant white interior barn, and gardens are located on the property.
Guest Count: Up to 150
Cost: Starting at $4500+ CAD
To Note: Most couples with a maximum guest count spend between $10000-$15000 CAD.
Trout Point Lodge
A secluded wilderness retreat perfect for couples wanting a private nature getaway.
Guest Count: Up to 32
Cost: Packages start at $5700 CAD
To Note: The entire property can also be bought up to make your wedding day completely private (though this is much more expensive).
The Ovens Natural Park
Technically a private campground and nature park, but you can pay a small entry fee and have a stunning ocean view on the peninsula for your ceremony.
Guest Count: No set limit
Cost: Cost of entry fee is $12/person CAD
To Note: You can also book a private campsite and have your ceremony in the forest for smaller gatherings. On top of that, there are some really cool sea caves to see!
Valley Area Outdoor Wedding Venues
Le Caveau Winery
Beautiful vineyard with an amazing restaurant on the property. This venue is best suited for smaller weddings.
Guest Count: Up to 50
Cost: Packages starting at $18000 CAD
To Note: Above packages include accommodations for 14 guests, ceremony, cocktail hour, 4 course dinner, and late night snack.
One of my favorite outdoor spaces in Nova Scotia, hands down. There is plenty of space, there are hardly ever any crowds, and it’s just so dang beautiful.
Baxters Harbour Falls in located in Halls Harbour, and boasts a 50ft waterfall fall into a rocky beach. It’s surrounded by really cool giant formations and cliffs to boot!
Guest Count: Up to 30
Cost: Free
To Note: Go at low tide so you have full access to the rocky beach and get explore the rock formations!
Lightfoot and Wolfville Vineyard
This vineyard has a lovely rustic feel and can accommodate larger weddings. The outdoor ceremony space overlooks the lush vineyards and greenery.
Guest Count: Up to 130 (or 30 for their intimate wedding packages)
Cost: Packages range from $2250 – $12000 CAD and mandatory in-house catering is an additional $125/person
To Note: The intimate wedding ceremony location is in the Tidal Loft and is not an outdoor space.
Beavercreek Vineyard
Another gorgeously rustic vineyard. With 90 acres, this venue offers onsite cabins for accommodations. The ceremony space is under their outdoor pergola overlooking the vineyard.
Guest Count: Up to 200
Cost: Packages start at $4000 – $7500 CAD for venue rental alone
To Note: More all-inclusive options will range around $15000 CAD for 50 guests, but you need to contact this venue for a custom quote.
Planters Ridge Winery
Stunning vineyard view for the ceremony located, and a 150 year old rustic barn for the reception space.
Guest Count: Up to 70 for standing cocktails and 30 for seated dinner.
Cost: Packages starting at $6000 CAD
To Note: Dinner can be outside on the veranda. Available for booking June 1st – Oct 1st.
Tangled Garden
Beautiful wildflower garden space perfect for smaller weddings with a whimsical vibe.
Guest Count: Up to 40
Cost: Packages vary for simple ceremonies/elopements, starting at $200 CAD and going up to $2000 CAD.
To Note: 3 packages are available for just the ceremony, ceremony + small reception, and a full day affair.
Annapolis Valley Historic Gardens
These stunning gardens are amazing for elopements and mid-sized weddings alike.
Guest Count: Up to 80
Cost: Prices vary and you must contact them directly for a custom quote.
To Note: Smaller scale receptions can also be held on the grounds in the cafe area.
Old Orchard Inn
There are 3 locations to choose from for your ceremony that overlook the apple orchard. The garden for small gatherings, sundeck or gazebo for more guests.
Guest Count: Small gatherings up to 625
Cost: Venue rental starts at $725 CAD +$400 ceremony fee. Food starts at $70/person.
To Note: Event coordination, set up, decor etc can also be added to packages.
Acadia University Irving Botanical Garden
Beautiful garden space in the wolfville centre at Acadia University. Perfect for intimate to mid-size outdoor weddings.
Guest Count: Up to 80 for the outdoor space, but receptions can host up to 500 guests.
Cost: Costs vary depending on wedding size and included services and you must contact them for a quote.
To Note: The gardens are open to the public until 10pm, though they do close if winds exceed 50km/h.
The Greenhouse at Strawberry lane
Very unique off-grid garden venue. The greenhouse itself can act as a reception space and there are plenty of lovely outdoor areas for the ceremony.
Guest Count: Up to 25 for intimate weddings/elopements or 50 for larger weddings.
Cost: Ceremony space rental starts at $500 CAD. You must contact them directly for a custom quote.
To Note: Space is closed from Jan-April.
Woodburn Ridge
Property consists of a 185 acre farm with ponds and forest views.
Guest Count: Up to 200
Cost: Packages start at $6500 CAD for Saturday peak days but are lower for Sundays and weekdays.
To Note: Bridal suite available for 4, and space is rented for 3 days (2 nights).
The Barn at Sadie Belle Farm
200 year old barn with surrounding meadow and river views. Available for elopements, micro weddings, and larger weddings. Has a 67-ft pergola.
Guest Count: Up to 100
Cost: Starting at $800 – $4300 CAD though costs vary for guest size and services as they offer custom packages.
To Note: Has separate ceremony, bridal suite, bar, and reception spaces.
Windgate Weddings
Beautiful red barn with 5000 sq/f of event space. Outdoor ceremony space overlooks the pasture with animals.
Guest Count: Up to 150
Cost: Packages starting at $5000 CAD.
To Note: White horse drawn carriage is available for photo op. No outside alcohol is permitted.
Healy Events
Located in Kentville, the outdoor ceremony site is located under a lovely oak tree and property has 2 barn spaces.
Guest Count: Up to 150
Cost: Packages average around $7500 CAD
To Note: 4 day minimum rental.
Midlands, Northern and Eastern Shore Nova Scotia Outdoor Wedding Venues
Seek Wilderness Retreat
Very beautiful rustic, eco-friendly venue for intimate weddings. Surrounded by forest, it’s the perfect spot for a stress-free experience in nature.
Guest Count: Up to 50
Cost: Packages are fully customizable and you need to contact them directly
To Note: Available for year-round bookings and accommodations (yurts and shipping container cabins) on site. Also located right on Victoria Park, which is stunning for photos!
Victoria Park
Stunning wilderness area located in Truro. Experience waterfalls, lush forests, winding wooden stairs, and a lovely little gazebo.
Guest Count: No set limit
Cost: $50 for wedding permit booked through the Truro Parks and Recreation Department
To Note: There are a few spaces where a wedding can take place here: Pavilion, gazebo, and bandshell
Parkers Barn
A rustic barn venue located in Hopewell, NS with lovely views of pastures and hillsides.
Guest Count: Up to 150
Cost: Packages start at $2750 CAD
To Note: This venue also features a 500ft deck with cafe lighting, and they are currently working on building dome accommodations which should be finished for 2027.
The Clover Barn
This venue has a ceremony in it’s gardens and offers that sweet countryside vibe.
Guest Count: Up to 180
Cost: Packages starting at $4000 CAD
To Note: Select decor items are also available for rent, and outdoor washrooms are on site.
Lochaber Centre
Pretty community centre near Antigonish with lakeside views, a cute gazebo, and located in a lovely natural setting.
Guest Count: Up to 235, but also has a smaller room for up to 50
Cost: Packages starting at $3500 CAD
To Note: The main reception space holds 235 standing, but numbers decrease to 145–188 with tables/liquor.
Little Harbour Community Centre
Located in Pictou country, this charming community centre has outdoor green space as well as indoor rooms.
Guest Count: No set limit
Cost: Facility rentals start at $300 CAD for a day rate.
To Note: Full wedding packages start at $700 CAD and which includes kitchen access.
Seawind Landing Country Inn
Stunning 15 acre ocean front Inn with expansive lawns and accommodations for up to 30 guests. Both outdoor and indoor ceremony spaces available.
Guest Count: Up to 50
Cost: Full wedding packages run around $15000 CAD, which includes catering and full turn key experience.
To Note: Pricing can vary as there are several options available for catering, etc.
Liscombe Lodge
Located on the Eastern Shore, this venue has an rustic riverside grove as an outdoor ceremony spot. Indoor locations are also available.
Guest Count: Up to 120
Cost: Site fee is $2000 CAD + $85/person for dinner.
To Note: There are several all-inclusive packages available for elopements, bonfire weddings, and a more traditional wedding day.
Crystal Cliffs By St FX University
Owned by St FX, this rustic oceanside venue is located 15km outside of Antigonish.
Guest Count: Small gatherings and up to 300 guests for larger groups
Cost: Prices start around $1250 CAD for venue rental
To Note: Full catering service is also available, and there is a barn onsite for an indoor reception.
The Marmalade Motel
Gorgeous and quirky small wedding/elopement venue on the Eastern Shore. With a lot of charm, and ocean views!
Guest Count: Up to 35
Cost: Prices start at $1699 CAD
