From the very first time I came to Prince Edward Island when I was 16 (and with my highschool boyfriend’s family) I was in love. We drove across the bridge, stayed in an adorable foresty cottage, and went to Sandspit. Classic family vacay. I even accidentally left my teddy bear behind and the next time his family went there, they brought him back for me. And guess what?? I STILL HAVE THAT BEAR.
And now I get to photograph elopements in PEI and I gotta say it’s a pretty amazing gig.

Prince Edward Island has some of the best places to elope in Canada. Okay, hear me out.
Prince Edward Island might be tiny, but it has A LOT going on.
Red cliffs. White sand beaches. Giant dunes. Tiny fishing villages. Lighthouses. Rolling farmland. Wild coastline. Warm(ish) ocean water. And enough lobster rolls to make you question whether pants are really necessary.
And if you’re thinking about eloping here? I’m into it.
You can do a provincial park elopement, lighthouse elopement, beach elopement (red sand or white!), PEI is just awesome for those east coast elopement vibes.
A PEI elopement is especially fun for couples who don’t want their wedding day to feel like a wedding day.
You know what I mean.
You’d rather spend the day wandering around the coast, eating good food, finding pretty little beaches, going for a hike, maybe hopping in a kayak, and eventually stopping somewhere beautiful to say, “Oh yeah, we’re getting married today.”
And while PEI has some famous spots that you’ve probably already seen on Instagram, there are also plenty of quieter corners where you can get away from the crowds and have a little more breathing room.
So if you’re wondering where to elope in Prince Edward Island, here are some locations I’d put on your list.
Already feeling overwhelmed? Don’t worry! You absolutely do NOT have to figure this all out on your own.
As your elopement photographer and planner, I help you find your perfect spot, whether that’s a windswept coastline, sandy beach, adorable lighthouse, or a little of all!

Let’s start with one of the really good ones. Absolutely one of the best places to elope in Prince Edward Island handsdown.
Greenwich.
If you’ve only seen the red cliffs of PEI, Greenwich might surprise you.
Instead of the classic red sandstone coastline, you’ve got enormous white sand dunes, wetlands, a beautiful floating boardwalk and a long stretch of beach.
And it feels BIG.
Greenwich is home to PEI’s largest sand dunes and an unusual parabolic dune system that’s pretty rare in North America. The area also tends to be quieter than some of the Island’s more popular beaches.
Which makes it a pretty fantastic option for an elopement in PEI.
You can wander the boardwalk through the dunes, explore the beach, find a beautiful spot for your ceremony, and spend the rest of the day doing whatever sounds fun.
And I LOVE that. Because your wedding doesn’t have to be:
Ceremony → photos → dinner → done.
It can be:
Walk → explore → get married → run around barefoot → eat something delicious → watch the sunset.
Much better, right? A Greenwich Elopement gets my vote!
Best For Couples Who: want dramatic dunes, a gorgeous beach, and a little adventure getting there.

Okay, let’s talk about the famous one.
Cavendish.
There’s a reason this beach ends up on practically every list of beautiful places in PEI.
You’ve got soft white sand, rolling dunes, those famous red sandstone cliffs and the whole Anne of Green Gables connection thrown in for good measure.
It’s gorgeous.
BUT.
Cavendish is also popular. It can get REAL busy on hot summer days.
So if you’re picturing a quiet little ceremony with your toes in the sand and nobody around for miles, I probably wouldn’t choose a sunny Saturday afternoon in July.
Instead, think:
Sunrise.
Sunset.
Weekday.
Shoulder season.
Or elope in Cavendish, and us it as one stop on a bigger adventure rather than the entire wedding day.
You can get those iconic PEI views without spending the whole day surrounded by beachgoers.
And let’s be real.
If you’re going to get married in PEI, you might as well take advantage of those red cliffs.
Best For Couples Who: want that classic PEI beach experience with big views, red cliffs, and plenty of nearby things to do.

If Cavendish is the famous cousin, North Rustico is the fun cousin who knows where the good seafood is. Totally one of the best places to elope in Prince Edward Island.
This little fishing village has a harbour, beaches, coastal views and a whole lot of East Coast charm.
It’s also part of the Cavendish North Rustico section of PEI National Park, which means you’re surrounded by some of the Island’s signature red sandstone cliffs and coastal scenery.
I could see this being such a fun base for a laid-back elopement.
Start with coffee.
Wander around the harbour.
Head out for a little adventure along the coast.
Get married somewhere beautiful.
Then go eat seafood.
The end.
Or, you know, continue the adventure because nobody said the wedding day has to end after the ceremony.
Best For Couples Who: want a mix of coastal scenery, charming fishing village vibes, and a fun little adventure around the area.

Okay, now we’re getting a little more wild. Thunder Cove elopement let’s go!
Thunder Cove is one of those places that makes you realize PEI is capable of some seriously dramatic scenery.
Red cliffs.
Sandstone formations.
Ocean.
Caves.
Sea stacks.
It’s a really fun option if you want your elopement photos to have that rugged East Coast feeling.
And there is something about PEI’s red sandstone against the ocean that just works.
You could make this part of a bigger North Shore road trip, explore the coastline, stop wherever the view makes you slam on the brakes, and eventually find somewhere beautiful for your ceremony.
Just keep an eye on tides and coastal conditions around caves and sandstone formations.
The ocean is gorgeous.
It is also in charge.
Best For Couples Who: want something a little more wild, dramatic, and off the beaten path, with red cliffs and a gorgeous stretch of coastline.

If you want a classic PEI beach for your elopement but don’t want to be quite as far into the Cavendish crowds, a Brackley Beach elopement is worth considering.
It’s part of PEI National Park and has that beautiful combination of white sand, dunes and wide-open Gulf of St. Lawrence views. The park’s Brackley area also connects into a larger network of trails and coastal areas.
It’s also relatively close to Charlottetown, which makes it handy if you’re combining your beach adventure with a little city time.
You could spend the morning getting ready in Charlottetown, head to the coast for your ceremony, wander the beach, and then go back into town for dinner.
Easy.
Pretty.
No complicated wedding production required.
Best For Couples Who: want soft white sand, rolling dunes, and an easygoing beach day that still feels incredibly beautiful.
Want to see more beaches? Nova Scotia actually has some of the best ones in Atlantic Canada!
Best Beaches to Elope in Nova Scotia

Here’s one that doesn’t always get the same attention as Cavendish. And a personal fav of mine! Easily one of the best places to elope in Prince Edward Island.
Stanhope.
It sits along the north shore within PEI National Park and has beaches, coastal trails, dunes and some beautiful open landscapes.
A Stanhope elopement is a great option if you’re after that classic PEI beach look but want to explore a little beyond the most obvious locations.
And if your dream is to have a slow wedding day, this kind of location can be perfect.
You don’t need to pack the day full of activities.
Maybe you walk.
Maybe you swim.
Maybe you read your vows.
Maybe you sit on the beach eating snacks in your wedding clothes.
I’m not saying you should do that.
I’m just saying…
You absolutely could.
Best For Couples Who: want a quieter coastal setting with beaches, dunes, trails, and plenty of room to turn the day into an adventure.

Hey, I’m Sebrina, your PEI Wedding Photographer
I help couples plan and photograph their amazing elopements in Atlantic Canada’s epic wild. NS is home base, but I know all the best places to elope in Prince Edward Island, too!

Now we’re heading east.
And we’re bringing the singing sand.
Yep.
Basin Head is famous for sand that literally squeaks or “sings” when you walk across it.
So obviously we need to put this on the list.
It’s a gorgeous white sand beach and a fun stop on an eastern PEI adventure.
But I actually think it would be even more fun as one piece of a bigger elopement day.
You could explore the eastern end of the Island, visit a lighthouse, wander around fishing villages, find a quieter beach for your ceremony and finish up at Basin Head.
Or just walk around making the sand squeak.
No judgement.
Best For Couples Who: want a beautiful sandy beach with a little more personality and the chance to make the day feel playful and relaxed

Want to make your tiny-island wedding feel a little more tiny-island-y?
A Panmure Island elopement might be your jam.
There’s a causeway leading out to the island, beautiful sandy beaches, coastal scenery and, because this is PEI, a lighthouse.
This is a really fun option if you want something that feels a little more like an adventure and a little less like a traditional beach wedding.
Pack a picnic.
Bring the blanket.
Take the scenic route.
Stop at the lighthouse.
Find a quiet stretch of beach.
Say your vows.
Then keep exploring.
That’s a wedding day.
Best For Couples Who: want a quieter beach escape with soft sand, coastal scenery, and that “we found our own little corner of PEI” feeling. Also hello Island Elopement!

Ugh I LOVE Argyle Shore. If you love the red cliffs but want to skip the big tourist destinations, take a look at the south shore. Easily another one of the best places to elope in Prince Edward Island.
Argyle Shore is a smaller coastal spot with red sandstone cliffs, beach and beautiful views across the Northumberland Strait.
And this is where I think PEI gets really interesting for elopements.
Because not every amazing location has to be one of the places you’ve seen a thousand times on Instagram.
Sometimes a smaller park or lesser-known beach is actually more your speed.
Less fuss.
Less wandering around trying to find a quiet corner.
More room to breathe.
And if you’re getting married at sunset?
Those red cliffs are going to look pretty spectacular.
Best For Couples Who: love dramatic red cliffs, big ocean views, and a more rugged coastal setting.

Let’s head west.
Cedar Dunes Provincial Park gives you a long stretch of beach, dunes and access to one of PEI’s most recognizable lighthouses, West Point Lighthouse.
And a West Point elopement is a fun one because the lighthouse itself is a little different from the classic red-and-white lighthouse image you might have in your head.
It’s dark.
It’s dramatic.
It’s right beside the beach.
Basically, it’s ready for its close-up.
This part of PEI is also great for couples who want to make their wedding feel like a road trip.
Drive.
Stop.
Explore.
Take photos.
Eat something.
Drive some more.
Get married somewhere beautiful.
Repeat.
Cedar Dunes Elopement yas please!
Best For Couples Who: want something a little different, with huge sand dunes, wild coastline, and the iconic West Point Lighthouse nearby.

For the couples who want dramatic cliffs without necessarily needing a famous beach, there’s Cape Tryon.
The coastline here is classic North Shore PEI.
Big red cliffs.
Blue water.
Wide-open sky.
And that slightly wild feeling that makes you want to keep walking just to see what’s around the next corner.
This is a great one to combine with other North Shore stops.
Because PEI is small enough that you can build a whole day around exploring rather than spending the entire day in one location.
And I think that’s one of the best things about eloping here.
You have options.
Best For Couples Who: want dramatic cliffs, sweeping ocean views, and a location that feels a little more wild and adventurous

Here’s another little North Shore gem.
A Covehead Elopement.
There’s a beach, dunes, coastal trails and the adorable Covehead Harbour Lighthouse. It’s perfect for that classic Lighthouse Elopement vibe.
It’s also part of PEI National Park’s Brackley Dalvay area, which gives you plenty of room to turn one location into an entire little adventure.
You could start with a beach walk, wander around the dunes, explore the lighthouse and find somewhere nearby for your ceremony.
And then?
Lobster.
I feel like we’re developing a theme here.
Best For Couples Who: want classic PEI coastal scenery with dunes, beach, and a ridiculously cute lighthouse thrown into the mix

If lighthouses, quiet coastal roads, and “let’s just see where this road takes us” energy sound like your kind of wedding day, put Point Prim on the list. Definitely one of the coolest lighthouses and best places to elope in Prince Edward Island.
Point Prim sits at the eastern end of the Northumberland Strait and is home to the Point Prim Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse on Prince Edward Island and the only round brick lighthouse on the Island. The surrounding coastline has a wonderfully wild, windswept feel, with rocky shorelines, beaches, fields, and those wide-open ocean views that make you want to stay until sunset.
And this is one of those places where I wouldn’t plan the entire day around standing at one exact spot.
Make Point Prim part of the elopement adventure. It’s an amazing lighthouse for a wedding day.
Drive the coastal roads. Stop at the lighthouse. Explore the shoreline. Find a quiet spot for your vows. Grab some seafood afterward. Maybe take the scenic route home just because you can.
Best for couples who: want a quieter coastal adventure with a historic lighthouse, big ocean views, and the freedom to slow down, wander, and see where the day takes you.

If you’re thinking:
“Okay, beaches are great, but can we have a little more CUTE?”
Yes.
Victoria-by-the-Sea.
This tiny seaside village is full of colourful buildings, little shops, restaurants, a harbour and that ridiculously charming PEI feeling.
This would be such a fun place for a more relaxed, village-style elopement.
You could get ready at a cozy inn, wander through town, stop for coffee, explore the harbour, have a private ceremony nearby and finish with dinner.
It’s also a great option if you’re bringing a few favourite people with you.
Everyone gets to enjoy the trip.
Nobody has to spend four hours sitting at a reception table pretending they’re not secretly wondering when dessert is coming.
Best For Couples Who: want a slower, more charming wedding day filled with colourful buildings, waterfront views, good food, and wandering around a tiny seaside village.

And yes, you can absolutely elope in PEI without spending the entire day in the wilderness.
Charlottetown is a really fun home base for an elopement.
Historic streets. Waterfront views. Restaurants. Cute hotels and inns.
And easy access to the beaches and coastal areas around the Island.
You could spend the morning exploring the city, head out to the coast for your ceremony, then come back for a fancy dinner.
Or do the whole thing in reverse.
Or stay in the city and make it a city-meets-coast Charlottetown elopement.
The point is:
You don’t have to choose between adventure and comfort.
You can have both.
Best For Couples Who: who want to mix a little city energy with a coastal adventure, especially if good food, cute streets, and a flexible itinerary are high on the list.

And now for my favourite category.
The “Wait, what’s down that road?” category.
PEI has more than 1,100 kilometres of shoreline, so there are a LOT of coastal spots beyond the beaches that show up on every vacation itinerary.
Some are famous.
Some are tiny.
Some are hidden down a little road you’ve driven past approximately 400 times.
And some are the kind of place where you get out of the car and immediately say:
“Okay. This is it.”
Those are the places I love finding for couples.
Because if privacy is important to you, you don’t necessarily need to chase the most famous location.
Sometimes the best wedding spot is a quiet stretch of coast you’ve never heard of before.
And that’s where having someone who actually knows the area can make a HUGE difference.
PEI is legit the PERFECT place for a beach elopement. PEI beach elopements for the win.
Best For Couples Who: would rather skip the famous spots and spend the day exploring until you find a stretch of coastline that feels like it belongs just to you.
This is where I would start narrowing it down based on how you want your wedding day to feel.
Look at Cavendish, Thunder Cove, Cape Tryon or Argyle Shore.
Greenwich, Brackley, Stanhope or Basin Head.
You have OPTIONS.
West Point, Panmure Island, Point Prim, Covehead and plenty of other coastal spots.
North Rustico or Victoria-by-the-Sea.
I’d look beyond the biggest tourist beaches and explore eastern PEI, western PEI and the smaller coastal parks.
Don’t pick just one place.
Build a road trip.
PEI is the perfect size for it.
This is the part I really love about getting married somewhere like Prince Edward Island.
Your wedding day doesn’t have to be one location. It doesn’t even have to look remotely like a wedding.
Maybe you start the morning with coffee in Charlottetown.
Then you drive to the coast with the windows down.
You wander through the dunes.
You find a quiet beach.
You read your vows.
You explore a lighthouse.
You eat lobster.
You stop for ice cream.
You take approximately 700 photos because suddenly the light is doing THAT THING.
And somewhere in the middle of all of it, you realize:
Oh yeah. We’re married.
That sounds like a pretty great wedding day to me.
And if you’re dreaming about a private, unhurried, nature-filled wedding day in Prince Edward Island, that’s exactly the kind of day I’d want to help you create.
Because finding a beautiful beach is the easy part.
Figuring out how to turn the whole place into a wedding day that feels like you?
That’s where it gets fun.
PEI might be small, but you can pack a LOT into a wedding day here.
And if you’re travelling from the U.S. or somewhere else in Canada, it makes a pretty fantastic destination for turning your wedding into a little Atlantic Canada adventure.
Come for the beaches.
Stay for the seafood.
Fall in love with the lighthouses.
Get a little too excited about red cliffs.
And somewhere along the way…
Get married.
Pretty good plan.

I’m an Atlantic Canada elopement photographer and planner who helps couples create meaningful, adventure-filled elopement experiences throughout the east coasts wild, untamed landscapes. And yep, that includes PEI of course!
