You know how sometimes you get a little slumpy? As a creative type, sometimes I feel like my photos aren’t artsy enough, or there’s not enough emotion in them, or little bits are missing. Covid has made a lot of us feel a little slumpy (this word keeps trying to autocorrect to “lumpy” which is hilarious to me) creatively, I think. BUT, this session was the one that pulled me out of my slumpiness (LOL, autocorrected to “stumpiness”).
Halifax is constantly changing, and that’s something I really love about it. As annoying as the construction has been, it’s making to some incredible city portraits. We photograph at the Public Gardens fairly often, and sometimes it can be hard to get creative in a place you’ve been 100 times, but I’m kinda proud of Kev and I for pulling out all the arts stops and making it look different. It’s not as easy as it looks, it can be so comfortable to shoot what you know works and stay in the safety zone.
Thankfully, we had such beautiful light, and such a vibrant couple. <3
We booked Ashley and Evan eons ago for their wedding, but naturally Covid got in the way and things got postponed. Sadly we were booked already for their new date, but as luck would have it we still got to do an engagement session with them this year! And I’m SO glad. Meeting them in person was just lovely. They are so radiant, and whomever gets to photograph them for their wedding next summer is in for a real treat.
With such contagious smiles, laughter, and genuine affection and silliness, we couldn’t have photographed a more photogenic couple.
